New bird species at Pomorie Lake – White-tailed lapwing

During last bird monitoring in the Pomorie Lagoon we were happy to observe new species for the site – White-tailed lapwing (Vanellus leucurus). The species is nesting mainly in Iran, Iraq and Southern Russia and until now there were less than 10 observations in Bulgaria. It is interesting to note that this year the species was already observed along Bulgarian coast from its southernmost (Silistar) to northernmost (Shablenska tuzla) parts. This spring first observation for Serbia was also recorded.
